And Now, a Question From Spokane

Posted by on May 9 at 12:41 PM

I understand why I get emails like this, being a gay reporter and all. But I really don’t have time to help people plan their gay pride weekends, nor do I have any desire to pick up the slack for the organizers of Seattle Pride 2006 — organizers who, as these homos from Spokane point out, are offering little information about the weekend on the Pride 2006 web site. (Why doesn’t this surprise me.)

Slog readers, can you help these Eastern Washington homos?

We’re some Spokane guys that will be attending the Pride Fest this year, as usual, but can’t find any information regarding entertainment or activities. The Pride website has no information. I’ve called The Cuff and The Elite with no results as well. We have our hotel rooms booked but should I buy Pink tickets??? or should I wait to see if something I would rather go to comes up? Trip planning is bothersome anyway but there is NO info out there. Do you know of any events that we should know about?

Looks like the Pride committee is doing another bang-up job. They can check out Tacky Tourists Club (http://www.ttca.org/) which usually has a listing of upcoming events. Besides the usual bar goings on, there will be a big dance party at Neumo's (http://www.overloadme.com for info).

There seems to be some possibility that there might be two competing parades/celebrations this year.

Faction 'A' plans to move the official parade down to Seattle center, reflecting the growing size of the event and the regional influence. Not all fags live on the hill, you know? Lets have a party!

Faction 'B' consists largely of the die hard traditionalists, insisting that the march must go down Broadway, as it has for 30 years. Have you no respect for past civil rights struggles? Besides, there may be fags all over the city, but in reality, almost all the bars and other gay businesses are on the hill. They may stage an unofficial march down Broadway anyway if they don't get their way.

Whatever... Like every year, the planning consists of lots of infighting over minutia, and in the end it will be a total clusterfuck. You likely won't hear any official info until the last minute. Nothing new.

Red State-Blue State? Fer Chrissakes, perhaps some of us in the breeder community should take it over and run it for you. Get your goddamn act together. This isn't only about a fucking parade.

The Pink Tickets can be purchased at the Pink Zone in the Broadway Market, at Hamburger Mary's, Henry's Off Broadway, or the Timberline.

Ummm, jesus dude, you are out of touch.

Pink Zone: MOVED, then went out of business

Timmberline: MOVED, then went out of business

Henry's off Broadway: IT IS BILL'S OFF BROADWAY

Hamburger Mary's: Don't even think it exists in Seattle.

Don't despair. You can still find Pink Tickets at Tugs.
