Police Bleat

Posted by on April 25 at 16:45 PM

Our own Charles Mudede has received a positively swimmy-eyed review in the Village Voice for the gorgeous Police Beat. Congratulations to Charles, and if you’re in New York this weekend, you should attend the world theatrical premiere on Friday at 7 pm at Anthology Film Archives. Charles will be introducing the movie (plus, if you’re lucky and ask funny questions, I imagine he’ll also chuckle).

Hey Scholar Nigger,

Isn't Village Voice a part of The Seattle Weekly media empire?

I thought Stranger Readers were supposed to ignore everything having to do with New Times Media publications?

If everything else in New Times Media newspapers is shit, why should we suddenly care about their movie reviews.

In fact if a New Times Media publication likes a movie, doesn't that mean the movie is probably something lame that Seattle Weakly readers would enjoy?

And didn't all the good writers leave Village Voice after New Times media bought it?

Just Wondering if you're saying I should start reading The Seattle Weekly for movie reviews now.

a whole week at Anthology Film Archives... and what, has it screened, once in Seattle??? Correct me if I'm wrong... I can't recall it screening more that once - and I've seen several glowing reviews. Are we not worthy?

Don't worry, it's opening in New York, but it's then doing the Landmark Theatres circuit. It'll be here for a week in June, after SIFF is over.

I had the pleasure of seeing this at Sundance in 2005. I look forward to recommending it to my friends here in Seattle.

If Seattle Weakly liked it, you can be sure it's a pretty weak film.

Mazel Tov Mudede.
Frame that review for all time.
Good luck in NYC.
Martian Face Jenny will be there.
