I got the exact same notice from my Mom this morning. Is there some Crap-Mom-Email webstie that they get this information from?
She also advised me to "wake up" then, so I could "celebrate" the big time-alignment moment. I don't really have the heart to tell her that I'll proabably still be awake from the previous day...
Great. Now I've something else to dread.
If you write dates using the more sensible (and sooo European) day/month/year format, this time alignment will actually happen on May 4.
It all makes sense. The apocolypse will start on 4/5 in the US and end on 5/4 in Europe.
I wonder, will it be bird-flu, global-warming, antibiotic resistant TB, global nuclear war, or something competely unexpected. Guess we'll know in a couple of days.

That reminds me of one day when I was in high school, when we observed a similarly odd chronological moment:
the 45th second at 1:23pm on June 7th, 1989 read:
1:23:45, 6/7/89
If we could survive that without major calamity, surely we'll make it thorough this one.

No, but she followed it up with some of Ronald Reagan's "greatest" quotes. Surely that can be counted as a threat.
Hate to burst everyone's bubble, but the Apocalypse isn't until June: 6/6/06. Which is the same no matter which date format you use.
