I'd be curious to know just how hard it was to get an abortion in SD before the law. SD's a pretty unpopulated state, with big areas of not much; and even their cities are pretty red. The real problem, up to now at least, hasn't been LAWS against abortion, but rather de facto bans in places that just don't have anybody doing the procedure. I think I read that Katrina chased out Mississippi's last abortion doctor, so it's impossible there, even if not technically illegal.

I'd also like to know where SD law stands on the morning-after pill and RU-486, which if used widely and correctly can make old-fashioned abortion unecessary in many cases.

FNARF, there was one Planned Parenthood clinic that would perform abortions in S.D. prior to this legislation, and they had to fly a doctor in from out of state. There was a mandatory waiting period following counselling to discourage the decision. Can't help you with the other questions.
