The Great Gay Rights Debate

Posted by on March 1 at 12:58 PM

I met with KING 5 reporter Robert Mak this morning to go over the format for the Stranger’s Sims/Hutcherson debate tomorrow night. (Town Hall. 7:30. Tickets $5 at the door. BTOBS.)

Mak is moderating because it didn’t seem right to have someone from the Stranger moderate (it’s a gay orgy club over here.)

We thought of having KIRO radio talk jock Dave Ross moderate, but Hutcherson’s camp laughed us out of the room on that idea, saying Ross was biased too. (I’m not sure what they meant by that.)

Hutcherson’s folks were aokay with Mak, though.

Got news for you Hutch, judging from my meeting with Mak, you might have made a big mistake.

KIDDING!

Seriously: Mak seems smart as hell, and it looks like he’s going make both Hutcherson and Sims sweat.

who is dave ross?

Robert Mak's voice makes me kind of sad, because it always reminds me of Sunday evening television. His is the voice of "weekend's over, make sure you have pressed clothes for work tomorrow". He seems like a smart cookie, though.

Yeah, funny, I always figured Mak's full name was "Robert Queerie McQueer Mak", but whatever. I'm sure he'd be a great moderator regardless. :)

Will there be someone blogging from the debate? Or video?

mak is good. i once saw him tear tim eyman a new one.

Dave Ross:

2004 candidate for congress from the 8th CD (Dem)

also, local radio host, kiro 710

If this were held in 2003, I doubt Ross would have been vetoed by the bigot.

Thanks Belltowner! I googled him but mostly came up with some children's author.

I've spoken with Mak over the phone. The guy had no discernable sense of humor.

At King 5, they call him "Mak Daddy" -- or "Daddy Mak." Can we call him this in every future reference? Please? Gonna make you jump jump, either way, my Kris Kross bitches!
