SPIN Sale Almost a Done Deal

Posted by on March 1 at 13:50 PM

Looks like the sale of the struggling publication will be finalized today. Hiring former Blender boss Andy Pemberton as editor-in-chief is probably a shrewd move, but they still have a rough road in front of them—and his suggestion that we could use a “younger version of Rolling Stone” makes my stomach turn.

Ms. Levin, I believe it's standard blog procedure to give credit to Gawker when you regurgitate one of their posts -- quotes, off-site link and all.

Ms. Ziegler, I believe this is widely reported news and, given the netiquette you suggest, it would be necessary for Ms. Levin to credit dozens of sources. Granted, many of these sources are not ones that Stranger readers refresh many times daily, so I'm glad it was posted here.

Anyway, please do as my surname suggests.

I have to agree with Mr. Gofuckyourself, but without the rudeness. I admit that when I read Levin's post, I remembered having read it not only on Gawker, but on other sites across the blogosphere. I really don't think she's required to credit all the other sources that got to it first.

Please, Ms. Ziegler--unless you know for a fact that Hannah Levin read the gawker post and then created this one, then you haven't got a leg to stand on.

Fair enough. I think it's pretty obvious, though. Come on, Hannah, fess up.

Sorry folks, found it on DailyChord.com. I haven't looked at Gawker in ages.

Aha, she admits it! Seriously, I don't see why anyone would care, though, had I blogged that, I would have credited dailychord with providing me with the link. It's not like it's plagerism or anything. Ms. Zeigler needs to lighten up.

I wasn't apologizing, I was saying 'sorry, you're wrong, I didn't steal my editorial comments from someone else's blog.' My opinions are my own and this isn't exactly a really obscure news story, so everyone should just fucking exhale. It's a beautiful day, after all.

There are way too many music magazines out there and they are all way too alike. SPIN, Blender, Rolling Stone and so on.
