Overheard in the Halls of Olympia This Week

Posted by on March 3 at 10:45 AM

“I just got fucked and Ceis is pissed.”

—Dave Foster, the City’s Lobbyist, after Rep. Mary Lou Dickerson (D-36) had a Hamas moment on Tuesday, stunning the House Transportation Committee and Team Nickels with a 26-2 vote demanding a Viaduct tunnel funding deadline by April 1—or else forget it.

Transportation chair Rep. Ed Murray (D-43) (and Deputy Mayor Tim Ceis), however, beat back Dickerson’s challenge yesterday by passing an amendment that would give the city until the end of the year to get its finance plan straight. As Erica Barnett posted yesterday, Murray’s amendment also gives Team Nickels more flexibility on what counts as secured funding.

Regardless of why you oppose the tunnel, y'all better vote no on RTID, or they'll say they can afford it and start digging-no matter what the ultimate cost.

I support the tunnel and if it cost another billion --- OK by me. I pay the taxes.

This is not Eastern Washington with bunch of doofus naysayers who can't see what they get from their taxes, duh, duh, duh.

Ed Murray got stabbed in the back by the hags. Shame, shame. Some blood letting here with Seattle Dems.

My God, I hope the phrase "Hamas moment" catches on.

Yeah, well how about if it's another 2 billion? Or 3? What is the maximum you'd pay for one mile of road?
