Slog - Comments on Myspace and the Stranger

There's a rather heated debate on the forums about the Stranger's policy of disallowing links to Myspace on the Stranger Bands Page (the future online home of the Musician's Directory, out later this week). I've posted a response that will either a) make everyone see that, as Lita Ford once said, it ain't no big thing, or b) will cause more people to pick up their flame-throwers. My guess is we'll see both....

Well, I'm hotter than a Dubai oil man in Texas just hearing that The Stranger wants to stand in the way of a good thing like MySpace. Why, check out Pat Robertson's profile - it is just right, right, right. And right for The Stranger.

So what do you say we team up? You know: Slog and MySpace.

Imagine, Schmader can have, like, 420,000 friends. And Savage can have a book about his pre-adolescent child published by HarperCollins!

Only one catch, you gotta cross promote with FOX... and no more of that marijuana talk. M'kay, Tim?

I dunno. The intentions are good, but there is an inherent hypocrisy in blocking links to one DIY site because you plan on making one of your own that local bands need to sign up with to gain local exposure.

I personally don't mind, see your point, and agree that it will filter things down to local acts and make it easier for those bands to stand out. I like the idea, but the danger of a flamewar over the 'it is, but it isn't' mindset behind this is there.
