Eight Honours, Eight Disgraces

Posted by on March 15 at 11:46 AM

The leader of the global economy, China’s Hu Jintao, has just posted “eight honours, eight disgraces” for the hoi polloi:

1) Love, do not harm the motherland.
2)Serve, don’t disserve the people.
3)Uphold science; don’t be ignorant & unenlightened.
4)Work hard; don’t be lazy and hate work.
5)Be united and help each other; don’t gain benefits at the expense of others.
6)Be honest and trustworthy, not profit-mongering at the expense of your values.
7)Be disciplined and law-abiding instead of chaotic and lawless.
8)Know plain living and hard struggle, do not wallow in luxuries and pleasures.

I know. It sucks so bad to wallow in pleasures.

Is it OK to just sort of, you know, dip your toe, so to speak, in pleasures? Maybe splash it around a little, not WALLOWING, you know, but, like, dabbing on or moistening or something?

It's interesting how most of our leaders don't fulfill very many of these 8 honors...Always a good thing when the leaders of the free world are being upstaged by communists!

Overwelming reaffirmation of the continuity in Chinese history for well over two and a half milllenums, intent upon the management of people rather than their presumed `salvation' in a heaven, available to precisely thoses it would - after the fashion on falun gong - ruthlessly condemn. Have your own way on both sides!

let's see how it steps off paper!
