Bush Falls to 33%

Posted by on March 15 at 13:18 PM

The latest Pew Research poll finds Bush’s approval rating at 33 percent, down seven points from last month. And this, spotted by the folks over at Kos, seems quite significant:

Bush’s personal image also has weakened noticeably, which is reflected in people’s one-word descriptions of the president. Honesty had been the single trait most closely associated with Bush, but in the current survey “incompetent” is the descriptor used most frequently.

Say what you will about the Democrats’ skills at messaging, but stunts like this do seem to be paying off:

I am somewhat relieved that people are finally figuring this out! Perhaps all is not lost afterall.

good news. but. i wonder what the dems' approval rating is? bush's drop doesn't signify some deep ideological shift as much as a desire to find someone who can lie more credibly about how we can cut taxes without killing social security, and how much the rest of the world looks to us to preserve their freedom. even if signs of change were in the air, would the dems have any coherent message for expressing/ guiding that shift? i doubt it:

at the risk of repeating myself from past posts: until the corporate dems stop fearing the left more than they fear the right, any electoral resurgence in 2006 will be short-lived and due only to a temporary breakdown within the republican party leadership. you can't consolidate a base that you have no respect for.
