In flipping through the newest copy of Esquire, I saw on p. 70 a full-page color photo of Steve Pool, KOMO weatherman. He is in a section devoted to “style icons” from around the country.
He looks handsome, sure, but…the STYLE ICON OF WASHINGTON STATE???
I look at his photo and think not “He’s got a great fashion sense” but rather “He’s got a great agent.”
It is depressing to think that this milk toast nothing would get such a mention. Any he suceeded Ray Ramsey the best and more sophiscated dressed man Seattle ever saw!
Actually, Steve is a nice guy. A mutal friend of his (well ours, I guess I should say) convinced an Esquire staffer to call him (race card!). Steve thought it was a joke. To the best of my knowledge, he doesn't have a publicist.
Who reads this old-man magazine, anyway?
I mean no disrespect to Steve. It's just that I would have figured (or at least hoped) the "style icon" representing the Pacific Northwest would have been someone more ecclectic and not a meteorologist who spent $3775 on a single pair of shoes.
Whatever happened to Front Runners? That show kicked Evening Magazine's ass.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who misses the columns Steve used to pen for us. Does anyone remember "Play It Cool, with Steve Pool" or "Don't Act the Fool, by Steve Pool" or "That's Snot, Not Drool, by Steve Pool"? The man exists on a whole other plane than the rest of us. Now if KOMO would just broadcast 24 hours a day of Steve Pool and Kathi Goertzen making out, I could die satisfied.
