Nine Months and Counting

Posted by on February 6 at 16:09 PM

New council member Sally Clark, surrounded by friends, family, and rowing buddies, was sworn in today by her partner Liz Ford, after which the pair shared what may have been City Hall’s first public lesbian kiss. In her brief remarks, Clark said she would work to reach out to neighborhoods, increase the number of city contracts awarded to women- and minority-owned businesses, and defeat the Tim Eyman-sponsored initiative that would repeal the state’s new anti-discrimination law.

Then everybody ate cake:

That's a pretty cake.

I'm having afternoon sugar cravings.

Yes, it is—and Erica neglected to bring me a piece, which sucks because I love sheet cake. Live for it—Sally, if you're reading this (and I know you are), save me a piece of cake!

Don't get your hopes up because she likes to sleep with women. Many men also like to and it doesn't give them any great commonsense.

My take on here is that she wil be just another mindless go-along get-along bureaucrat. Just look at her priorities:

"increase the number of city contracts awarded to women- and minority-owned businesses..."

-- total pablum; with all the set-asides and reverse discrimination such businesses have no need for more gimmees. (If she wanted to do anything in that realm it would be to focus on education but that's not what the City Couyncil does.)

" defeat the Tim Eyman-sponsored initiative that would repeal the state’s new anti-discrimination law."

-- that's worthy of course, too, but hardly the job I want a City Councilperson to do on City time.

Nah, she's a clever good-looking clone.
