I kind of agree with her, at least in her point that we shouldn't back down. This whole debate has reminded me of what's going on in Nigeria and, apparently, in India. The Nigerian government is essentially secular and the Nigerian president is Christian, yet northern Nigeria essentially has its own set of laws. The Nigerian government is so scared of Muslim radicals and religious strife, they won't intervene to stop injustices in the North.

According to Salman Rushdie, much of the same is happening in India. There's one set of laws for Hindu women (the Indian government's laws) and there's another set of laws for Muslim women (the Shari'a). Since the Indian government is terrified of pissing off Muslim radicals, it frequently opts not to get involved in gross injustices against Muslim Indian women.

How long is it going to take before European governments start behaving this way?

Jeez O, when did you get all political and shit?

Thanks for the special work and information!
