Beginning in March, Richards is launching an ambitious series of benefits for local charities--with plans to produce more throughout the year. They're highlighting one cause per month through on-air promotions, an afternoon interview with Kevin Cole, and a live show at the High Dive, which will be broadcast during Saturday's Audioasis show. And as a low-income musician, I have played some super-crappy shows that ended up paying nothing. To play a show to hundreds of people that's heavily promoted by (and aired on) KEXP would be compensation enough for me, and would doubtless pay dividends in the future.
