Two minutes ago, Charles Mudede misspoke, and then said: “I want to shoot myself in the foot.”

And then Dave Segal said, “Why don’t you put your foot in your mouth and then shoot it?”

(PS to all you Ace of Base fans: I’m now playing “The Sign” at full volume in the office.)

Tonight in seattle is going to be gloomy and awkward thanks to the dual ace of base mentions in slog. It's stuck in everyone's head now. You people should be ashamed of yourselves.

I must stand by my assertion that I still don't think you can "want" to shoot yourself in the foot. Foot-shooting in that context is by definition accidental, so it can not be premeditated.

Soldiers will sometimes shoot themselves purposely in the foot to get sent home from war, but I think in that context the metaphor gets overly complicated.
