I smelled it, too—first in my hallway, and immediately wondered if a neighbor had died and was rotting—then, stronger, on Pike Street. Results of a quickie Google investigation are on the way.

pulp and paper, wood processing from Tacoma, Port Townsend, Everett. Was the exact same smell you always used to get when you went through Everett as a kid.

Nope, this was way nastier... more like shit than pulp.
