Go And Watch I Am Cuba

Posted by on January 11 at 16:47 PM

I saw I Am Cuba again last night and the beauty of several scenes almost choked some tears out of my eyes. I woke up this morning with the score in my head. That sad humming, that wild country, that ride in the taxi through Havana. This is the power of cinema.

Although it isn't as great as seeing it on the big screen, please be advised that the Sundance Channel is currently broadcasting "I Am Cuba." It is the first time the film has been shown on television in the United States.

See the Sundance Channel website for showtimes and set your tivo. As Charles says, it's an amazing film.

Yeah, or just wait for the video... Uggh. This is a film that needs to be watched on the big screen, and that's not an opportunity that comes along too often.

It is an amazing film and, surprisingly, for a propaganda movie, very true in its condemnation of Battista's Cuba. Sadly, most every act of repression and corruption depicted in the film can be found in Cuba today.
