From the Archives

JT Leroy — or “JT Leroy,” as the case may be — wrote a great piece for The Stranger once, back when he was writing under the name “The Terminator.” Here it is.

Also, there’s been some talk on the Slog lately about James Frey, who wrote an audience review for The Stranger in 2004. Check it out.

You guys can no longer say you broke anything on the Slog. You modify posts and re-post and delete and all sorts of crap. Boo for difficulty.

Frizzelle and I posted at the same time, on the same subject, so we deleted my redundant post. What's the big freaking deal?

Whatever the hell you guys are talking about. Now who edited JT's story? Do you think it was George Knopp or was it actually JT? Has anyone here ever met JT, or the woman impersonating JT?

I once interviewed JT, for our Bumbershoot issue (probably three years ago). I'm not sure who the hell I was talking to. But whoever it was, they were pretty cool to talk to.

Perhaps I'm being all 1900's, but Fredricson is on to something. I think if you want to add or correct information make a new post. I've seen posts modified a couple of times durring the day but the time stamp hasn't changed I think that's a bit wrong (unless you have a time machine). I haven't noticed anything creepy happen-mostly the post usually get more info as time goes by. But for the reader its confusing because you don't know if you've read something or not. And it also seems like you're cheating.

Can people please stop conflating 'blog' and 'journalistic standards'?

It doesn't work - infamously so. That anyone is still confused about this issue only highlights their age/inability to understand new concepts/forms of media.
