Eugene O’Neil Simon QUIZ!

Posted by on January 10 at 14:15 PM

Last week, Stranger theater editor Brendan Kiley made a mistake worthy of lifelong shame, somehow confusing Neil Simon with Eugene O’Neill. Brendan made a prompt apology, but can a mere apology suffice? Of course not, hence this quiz, through which Brendan will confirm his new and thorough understanding of these two ridiculously distinctive playwrights. Feel free to join in the fun!

Brendon. Don't let David Schmader push you around. Don't take quizzes he gets to grade. You don't need his stinking quizzes. Some days Neil and O'Neill trade places. So what. Could happen to anybody. I once wrote Gary Ridgeway when I meant Gary Locke. Do I really think the ex-guv dumped bodies along the Green River? Of course not. That's what editors do, catch the lint in our mental filters. Chris Frizzelle needs to be collecting the raspberries. You wrote it, but he missed it.

RH brings up an interesting point: Nobody would've been surprised in the least if the GRK had turned out to be Gary Locke. His neighbors would've said "He was always quiet and polite."
BTW Slog, when you have the great Regina Hackett and the super-smart Kerri Harrop both commenting on the same day you know you've arrived.

Thank you, Regina. And we've already gotten one angry letter about the quiz, by some tightly-wound theater fan who took exception to my joke about Albee writing Private Lives.

In fact, Regina, I should be collecting the raspberries. I edited Brendan that week. Stupid stupid Annie.
