Absurdity and the Newspaper Mode of Production

It’s a funny thing to work in an industry where day after day, I can wake up to articles, like this one by Michael Kinsely in Slate, that explain why my industry’s modes of production no longer make sense.

But here’s what’s funnier: Blogging about it.

oh snap! paper is so 1990!

While some (Jim Romanesko, which technically is a blog) will lament on the death throws and convulsions our industry are in, some will try to embrace the future.

On-line journalism, blogs, whatever, are the means in which to reach a mass audience today and will only become more and more mainstream in the future. One of the factors in my job-deciding was the company's commitment to its Web site.

Irony= blog posts about newspapers slow demise.

Eli, as the son of a psychiatrist, I can assure you that self-awareness is the first step towards recovery.

That's "death throes." Whether it be in print or online, there will always be annoying pedants like me to darken your day.
