It *does*! Which is why I was mad confused by:

Well, it's worth more than the $500 retail value since you get to dress up in an elf costume, zoom through the store amped on adrenaline, and then have your elf-self's photo appear in The Stranger. How much all that's worth is totally subjective, of course.

Oh no you're right. I mean, already I've spent at least $400 trying to drink my way into drunk of the week TO NO AVAIL. That and $500 in CDs would be worth at least $547 to me.
