Smoke-Free Pub Crawl TOMORROW!

Posted by on December 8 at 11:54 AM

Ben’s got 99 RSVPs for his Cap Hill pub crawl tomorrow night. Everyone’s welcome.

They’re also going to hand out these little love notes to tell the bartenders that they appreciate their help in enforcing the ban.

Fun Fact: If you wrap those love notes around $5, you'll get better results.

Those are like the little Jesus Saves cards that Christian missionaries and Jehonvah's Witnesses hand out.

I think they're very familiar by now with the ramifications of the smoking ban and these little fliers rub it in their faces a bit too much.

mason: Well, that's the intention, to give 'em out with the tips. $5, though, dunno about that. I need money left over for DRINKS.

Gomez: I just don't want 'tenders at Comet or Madison Pub crying in stale beer on Friday thinking that their lives are over. When this huge group shows up, I want them to know for sure that we're NEW customers that wouldn't have been here but for the ban.

Rubbing it in their faces? That they are getting a bunch of NEW customers that wouldn't have been there otherwise? Please.

These are great.

Right on. This is a kickass idea. I'll be there.

Where the hell is CC's? how bout an address.

Durr. C.C. Attle's/"The Men's Room"/The Veranda/Promenade or whatever. 1501 E Madison... across from Taco Time.

But MoTown, will you guys be back EVERY week? It's one thing to show up on Smoke Free Weekend One with promises of optimism... but another to taper off and stop showing up after 2-3 weeks. They still have a business to run long after the noob non-smokers lose interest in their bar.

<sound of me yawning> C'mon now Gomez, don't tell me you're not just expending all this energy criticizing our event... what are YOU doing in light of the smoking ban? <crickets> Thought so. The Pubcrawl went pretty well. We started with 50 people at CC's and still had about 2 dozen by the time we crawled into the Eagle about midnight (and oh yeah, we more than doubled the # of people in the place.)

My liver on Saturday morning sure told me we're not going to do a Pubcrawl every week. But from now on when my friends and I are trying to think of places to go out, quite a few more places will be on our list. Next time I plan something constructive in this town, I'll remember to expect harping from the likes of those like you. Cheers!
