Improving Voter Turnout

Posted by on December 15 at 10:07 AM

Motor-voter, weekend voting, a voting day holiday, all-mail-in voting— they’re all good ideas. But to increase voter turnout in the United States maybe all we need is a car bombing or two in the weeks leading up to the vote and a blanket threat to kill anyone who shows up at the pols to vote. It seems to work wonders in Iraq.

Interesting photo. The white ribbon says "polling place" but the young arab men behind razor wire under armed guard say "prison camp."

(rolling my eyes) They're not 'behind' the razor wire - the stuff is at ankle level. You could step over it and out of line if you wanted to.

No doubt a reasonable precaution in a place where the act of voting can kill you.
