Even as many Seattle Weekly employees are looking for jobs….
…at least one seems desperate to keep the job he has.

The emergence of a grassroots campaign to save Geov Parrish's job is as likely as the emergence of a grassroots campaign to reinstate Jim West into his.
Poor Weekly employees. As a native Seattleite who is a Phoenix-area transplant, I shudder to think of what will happen to papers under the thumb of the New Times. Their paper is atrociously boring and useless if one has any interest in culture or local politics. I picked it up once or twice with the naive hope that it might approach the Stranger's quality. Alas, it did not.
The day the editorial staff of SW goes down - Red Doris is buying. Dubonnet on the rocks for all!
I think Seattle Weekly over the years has been a very good publication. Roger Downey is probably the best arts writer in the North West. It's a shame to hear that this Phoenix group is going to change the paper for the worse. There is, however, hope for people who liked the Weekly. There's a new monthly opening up, this summer, staffed with lots of good Seattle Weekly writers like Kathryne Koberg and Eric Sciglianno. Maybe they can pick up Downey too.
How can Parrish claim to be the only "Consistently progressive local voice" in local print media? Get over yourself, Geov.
I'll be sitting next to you Red Doris (Mom) buying the Mojitos!
Hooray for Judy Nicastro! Hooray for Doris Nicastro!

I will give the Weekly this... they've got nice digs, right down on Western, a block or so from Ivar's.
